Celine Dion by n00brevolution Celine Dion by n00brevolution
Finally got my hands on some Bristol board to draw on. Spent basically the entire day drawing her. Took about nine hours with the usual 2H, HB and 6B pencils. One thing's for sure: hair - one of the most tedious and time consuming things you'll ever want to draw.

Can't believe I only started loving her music since this week.

Very good rendition, I find doing hair is very tedious but the result of the time you put in the drawing makes the difference!!

I didn't even need to read the title. I love those days when you ignore everything else and just draw.
It is clear that you put a lot of effort into the hair- it is EXTRAVAGANT! The minimal facial shading makes her eyes stand out.

Hair is probably the most annoying thing to draw after hands and foreheads (yes, I hate foreheads). But it looks great here, the strands are quite clear as to where they overlap and it looks pretty convincing to me.
What's Bristol board? :O

Hey, thanks for your thoughts.:D Foreheads, yeah they can be annoying if you overdo them; I tend to simply smudge the entire thing and only render in the edges. Hair... took a good four hours; when you look at actual hair, you'll see my strands aren't nearly thin enough. I'll admit I was getting pretty tired towards the end of six hours and almost got lazy on the entire right side.

Bristol Board is type of drawing paper; it's far thicker than cartridge so it can withstand a lot more pressure (perfect for when you're going full out on the eyes and blocking solid black in the hair, whereas shit like printer paper would get creased as hell and you see all pencil marks reflect in the light), and far less textured so it's even better for smudging smooth skin. Those would be the two biggest differences from Bockingford I can think of. Oh, and it's a good deal more expensive.

No worries :)
And okay, I think I'll stick with Bockingford for now :XD:

Honestly, I think Bristol Board is easier to work with and produces a better end result. A few dollars for a work of art isn't that bad is it? :XD:

Nah, it's not really the money, I guess I'm just happy with the results I'm getting with Bockingford, is all. If the day comes where I find that I need something better then I'd definitely be willing to spend a few dollars, but at the moment I think I'll be all right =P
